Birmingham city employees exceed mayor's goal on Haitian relief effort

Nearly 23 tons of rice, beans and powdered milk were collected over three days for Haitians, thanks to area residents and Birmingham city employees, Mayor Larry Langford said Wednesday.


"They doubled my expectations," said Langford, who gathered together more than 150 municipal employees at City Hall to thank them.
